Vet visits are often a source of anxiety for our pets. The car ride over, other animals in the waiting room and strange smells – it can all be quite overwhelming!

At Foxwell Vet Coomera, we implement multiple techniques and protocols to reduce stress in our patients. This includes:

Stress-Free Waiting Room

We offer a separate waiting area for feline patients and try our best to send you through to a consult room as soon as possible to avoid stressful interactions in the waiting room.

Extended Consultation Times

Our standard consultation time is 30-minutes to ensure we have time thoroughly assess your pet and create a sense of calm without rushing you or your pet.

Pheromones and Treats

We use synthetic pheromones such as Feliway (cats) in our examination rooms and clinic to help keep our patients calm. Treats are provided (with permission) to build trust with your pet; a little bit of bribery goes a long way!

Pre-Visit Anti-Anxiety Medication

If you have a nervous pet that you think may benefit with anti-anxiety medication prior to their visit, please contact us so we can come up with a tailored plan for your pet.

House Calls

For pets that feel safer in the comfort of their own home, we can come to you! We currently offer regular house call appointments on Wednesdays and Fridays, with other days available pending vet availability. We service all suburbs within a 10km radius of the clinic, if you’re unsure whether we visit your area, please feel free to contact our team.

FREE Cuddle Consults

We offer 10-minute consults with our lovely nursing team where your pet will be spoilt with attention, treats, toys and like the name suggests – lots of cuddles! These sessions focus on building trust and positive reinforcement with your pets. Focusing on principles such as desensitisation to the clinic environment and counterconditioning, so when your pets have to visit us for something more serious – they’ll remember all the treats and pats they got instead!
